For a democracy to work, you need citizens to take an interest in the democratic process. If you want to be able to hold your representatives accountable, if you want a say in what laws are passed or what taxes are changed, you need to use your voice. It takes about five minutes to register to vote, a few hours to browse manifestos and watch the news, and about 30 seconds to actually vote. Is that really too much work?
Even if you go to vote and turn in a blank or spoilt ballot, that is recorded and counted as a protest vote. You did SOMETHING to express your feelings for the political system. If you do nothing, you waive your right to democracy. You might as well erect a sign in your front garden that says ‘bring in a dictatorship’ because you are giving nothing to the democratic process and thus letting yourself be silenced and unrepresented as if you didn’t have the right to be heard at all.
Do you really give no shits about what happens around you? About who represents YOU when it comes to making cuts or changing laws?
Get out and make an educated vote.
Because I don’t know what I’ve done to it at home but it is some effed up shit.
Maybe I’ll reinstall x-kit
